SUMMARY:LSIW21 - VP Bank Luxembourg - Investing for change. Sustainability is key!
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with VP Bank Luxembourg \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nMonday 11 October \n2:00 pm – 3:00 pm \n  \n \n  \nInvesting for change. Sustainability is key! \nInvestors are increasingly interested in sustainable investing as evidenced by the record highs reached in sustainable funds in 2020 with over USD 300 billion in new investments according to investment research firm Morningstar.\nDr. Felix Brill\, CIO and president of the Sustainability Board of VP Bank\, will present why VP Bank is convinced that integrating ESG factors into the investment process leads to better decision-making and why sustainability is key to meet the preferences of clients. \nIn 2020 VP Bank launched the “Investing for Change” initiative to actively bring about positive change through sustainable investing. Under this initiative we have developed a sustainability assessment methodology to guide our investment\ndecisions and launched products with an ESG focus. Since 1 January 2021\, we are integrating sustainability risks and opportunities into all investment decisions. Through thematic investing\, we identify future topics\nand companies that are responding to social and environmental changes in a significant way. We do not treat sustainability as a product\, but consistently incorporate it into our investment processes and include it in the portfolio\nconstruction for our discretionary mandates as well as in the advice we provide to our clients. By doing so\, we enable our clients and investors to seize opportunities on the financial market and profit sustainably. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nWelcome: Alexander Ziehl – Head of Intermediaries Clients of VP Bank (Luxembourg) SA\nSession: Dr. Felix Brill – Chief Investment Officer of VP Bank AG\n\n  \n \n  \n  \nMedia Partners:

SUMMARY:LSIW21 - Linklaters LPP - Islamic Finance and Impact Financing
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with Linklaters LPP \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nMonday 11 October \n3:00 pm – 4:00 pm \n  \n \n  \nIslamic Finance and Impact Financing. \nThe Islamic financial services industry (IFSI) is widely recognised as a place where good practice and ethical behaviour based on Islamic principles is encouraged. Some reports in recent years have suggested that Sharia-compliant investment funds can out-perform similar conventional investment funds in times of market stress.\nToday\, as the world demands greener more sustainable solutions\, Neil Miller (Global Head of Islamic Finance\, Linklaters London) and Victor Louvet (Managing Associate\, Investment Funds\, Linklaters Luxembourg) see an opportunity for greater alignment between Islamic investment parameters and the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and the Taxonomy Regulation requirements. Can generic Islamic principles applied subjectively around the world ever converge with the objective requirements of Europe’s regulations?\nJoin us to hear how Luxembourg’s growing role in ESG can help provide the right environment. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nNeil D Miller – Global Head of Islamic Finance\, Linklaters Dubai\, London\nVictor Louvet – Managing Associate\, Linklaters Luxembourg\n\n  \n \n  \n  \nMedia Partners:

SUMMARY:LSIW21 - Fidelity International - Financing Climate Change : What is the role of asset managers?
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with Fidelity International \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nMonday 11 October \n4:00 pm – 5:00 pm \n  \n \n  \nFinancing Climate Change : What is the role of asset managers? \nWe face a climate emergency that demands collective action. But persuading an entire world to come together to change ingrained economic and social habits is hard.\nThere is hope\, however. The net zero ambitions of the world’s two largest economies – the US and China – have surpassed the expectations of many in the past 12 months\, and there is real momentum as we approach the UN’s postponed COP26. Many countries and companies around the world are already on a pathway to a lower carbon world and central banks globally are considering their role as well.\nAs stewards of clients’ capital\, asset managers’ role is to ensure that our allocation decisions reflect this urgent need too.\nIn this presentation\, Fidelity Investment Specialists will show you how equities and bonds investments can work together to contribute to this transition to a more sustainable future. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nCornelia Furse – Portfolio Manager of FF – Sustainable Climate Solutions Fund\nSanela Kevric – Sales Director Luxembourg\n\n  \n \n  \n  \nMedia Partners:

SUMMARY:LSIW21 - LuxFLAG & European Court of Auditors - ECA Special Report on Sustainable Finance
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nMonday 11 October \n5:00 pm – 6:00 pm \n  \n \n  \n  \nLuxFLAG & European Court of Auditors – ECA Special Report on Sustainable Finance. \nSpecial event sponsored by LuxFLAG. \nThe transition to a net-zero emission economy will require significant private and public\ninvestment\, but the EU is not doing enough to channel money into sustainable activities. That is the conclusion of a special report by the European Court of Auditors (ECA) that calls for more consistent EU action. The European Commission has rightly focused on increasing transparency in the market\, but the auditors criticise the lack of accompanying measures to address the environmental and social cost of unsustainable economic activities. According to the report\, the Commission needs to apply consistent criteria to determine the sustainability of EU budget investments and better target efforts to generate sustainable investment opportunities. \nAfter a presentation of the main results of the special report by Ms. Eva Lindström\, she will be joined by Luxembourg Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna and Luxembourg Stock Exchange CEO Julie Becker to debate how the points raised in the report can be addressed by the public and private sectors. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nMs. Eva Lindström\, Member\, European Court of Auditors\nH.E. SUMMARY:LSIW21 - NN Investment Partners - ESG integration within sovereign fixed income
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with NN Investment Partners \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nTuesday 12 October \n2:00 pm – 3:00 pm \n  \n \n  \nESG integration within sovereign fixed income. \nESG integration is increasingly becoming a crucial input across a broad spectrum of investment strategies.\nSo far\, most efforts have been dedicated towards the development of corporate ESG scores. However\, NN Investment Partners now also developed the Sovereign ESG Lens\, a framework dedicated to the ESG assessment of sovereign issuers.  Our approach\, which takes into account a wide range of data points\, enables investors to identify where future risks and opportunities could arise\, as well as how countries are equipped to respond. It also helps standardize data between countries and increases consistency and measurability in investment processes. Want to learn more on how to integrate ESG within sovereign fixed income? Come join the presentation of Mrs. Edith Siermann\, Head of Fixed Income Solutions\, Specialized Fixed Income and Responsible Investing at NN Investment Partners. \nLINK \n  \nSpeaker: \n\nEdith Siermann – Head of Fixed Income Solutions\, Specialized Fixed Income & Responsible Investing\n\n  \n \n  \nMedia Partners: \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with Union Investment Luxembourg \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nWednesday 13 October \n10:00 am – 11:00 am \n  \n \n  \nGreen Transition shaping the future. \nSustainability always means future viability\, and future viability requires transformation. However\, transformation does not happen at the push of a button\, but it is a continuous process. “If we improve poorer companies\, more is achieved than if we optimise good ones\,” says Dijana Lind\, ESG Analyst at Union Investment. This is worthwhile in terms of earnings as well as climate protection. This is implemented via a transformation ranking. Close contact with the companies and years of commitment help in the evaluation. “We need qualitative judgements\, and for this we ask the right questions in a dialogue\,” says Lind. \n  \nSpeaker: \n\nDijana Lind – ESG Analyst\, Union Investment\n\n  \n \n  \nMedia Partners:

SUMMARY:LSIW21 - Bonn Steichen & Partners - Unveiling the details of sustainable finance regulation: where do we stand\, what to expect\, and how to comply?
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with Bonn Steichen & Partners \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nThursday 14 October \n9:00 am – 10:00 am \n  \n \n  \nUnveiling the details of sustainable finance regulation: where do we stand\, what to expect\, and how to comply? \nOur purpose: Deep diving in the upcoming sustainable finance regulation requirements\nEnvironmental\, Social\, Governance (ESG) regulation is constantly evolving and representing an increasing challenge for the financial sector. The creation of a standardized framework for such regulations has been undertaken by the European Commission these past two years\, in particular through its Taxonomy regulation and Sustainable finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). In upcoming years\, new regulation will disrupt the way funds disclose and verify their ESG data. Keeping up with the legislative landscape and compliance requirements will become an essential driver for funds oriented towards sustainability. \nOur insights: Sharing views and our expertise\nThis session aims to provide you with some key insights on how to apply these regulation requirements successfully. During the session\, our speakers will dive into the regulatory aspects of ESG and sustainable finance\, and their timeline to guide the investment community through the upcoming changes. We will share views on the reporting challenges and opportunities\, showing a specific example from an asset manager. Finally\, a special focus will be made on the periodic reporting under SFDR requirements and the related Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS)\, and the EU Taxonomy. \n  \nSpeakers: \n\nVanessa Müller – ESG services leader | Partner\, Ernst & Young Business Advisory Services S.à r.l. DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this session will be digital. \n  \nLuxFLAG is pleased to organize a session in partnership with Societe Generale Private Banking \nduring the LuxFLAG Sustainable Investment Week: \nThursday 14 October \n11:00 am – 12:00 pm \n  \n \n  \nHow to ride the energy transition investment wave? \nFinancial institutions have a leading role to play in supporting more sustainable and inclusive development models. By directing the investment flows\, they can accompany the emergence of the new growth drivers. The energy transition is at the crossroads of many different realities for individuals\, corporates\, public entities in developed economies as well as in emerging countries. While focused initially on reducing climate change\, these investments can also create positive impacts at many different levels and help to solve additional issues\, from regenerating nature to improving social well-being and reducing inequalities. \nOn top of renewable energy\, key growth areas and large capex requirements will come from increased use of green hydrogen\, the pick up of the electric mobility value chain and the multitude of investments required in energy efficiency for buildings and industries. Other trends are at the corner and will pursue this investment continuum dynamic. \nInterested in these topics ? Join us for this conference. Our experts will discuss the following agenda : \n1) Investing in leaders in energy transition: decode the positive actions.\n2) Financing infrastructure and energy projects for a sustainable future.\n3) Exploring the energy transition in frontier markets with a multi-impact approach. \nYour connection can also be an action. SUMMARY:European Microfinance Week 2021
DESCRIPTION:The past 15 months have been very challenging and during this time we at e-MFP have engaged with our members and friends and adapted our activities accordingly to best mitigate the effects this pandemic brings to our sector and the vulnerable people we as a community serve. \nOne of our flagship activities is European Microfinance Week held annually in November and while it is difficult to predict the progression of the pandemic\, it remains likely that travel restrictions will still apply in the coming months and that participants from the global South will be unable to come to Luxembourg during the conference period. In order to ensure an international conference with the participation of stakeholders from all around the world\, e-MFP has therefore decided to organise European Microfinance Week 2021 virtually\, 17 to 19 November\, building on the excellent experience from the 2020 edition. \n
